Peanuts

Peanuts are grown in the southwest and south central areas of the state. Due to the arid climate, nearly two-thirds of the peanuts grown are irrigated. Oklahoma peanut producers grow between 50 and 70 million pounds of peanuts each year. Oklahoma ranks in the top two states in the production of Spanish peanuts and in the top five of runners. A fun fact about peanuts: two American presidents were peanut farmers – Thomas Jefferson and Jimmy Carter.
