Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently welcomed a new member to its staff with the addition of Oklahoma State University senior, Gail Banzet. Banzet, an agricultural communications major/agricultural economics minor, will join OFB’s Corporate Communications/Public Relations Division for the summer.
Banzet grew up on a cattle operation in southeast Kansas and was active in livestock judging and exhibiting throughout high school. She has served as a Farm Bureau Agricultural Ambassador for Labette County Farm Bureau in Altamont, Kan., and is OSU’s 2005-06 Collegiate Farm Bureau reporter.
Banzet also is active in OSU’s Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow chapter and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Agricultural Ambassadors team.
Banzet is interested in radio and writing. She was employed at KKOW Radio in Pittsburg, Kan. last summer as an intern for 860 AM’s farm department, and she freelance writes for Farm Talk Newspaper of Parsons, Kan.
As an intern, Banzet will assist the communications staff in print, radio and television coverage of Farm Bureau and agricultural news across Oklahoma. She is excited about the opportunity to work for the organization and learn more about the agricultural communications industry.
“I had heard about this internship, and after talking to previous interns, I knew I wanted to apply. I’m looking forward to working with Farm Bureau leaders across the state and sharpening my communications skills. This is a great summer opportunity, and I hope to learn a lot about my future profession through the experience,” Banzet said.
Banzet will graduate in December 2006 and plans to obtain a career where she can utilize her public speaking, writing and broadcasting skills in the agricultural industry. She is the daughter of Allan and Janie Banzet of Edna, Kan.
