Oklahoma Farm Bureau members will have three unique opportunities to learn, grow and expand their agricultural horizons with breakout sessions on Friday, Nov. 10, during the 2023 OKFB annual meeting.
The breakout sessions will begin at 3:15 p.m., shortly after the close of the opening general session. The breakout sessions will not repeat.
Reports from OKFB’s AFBF Issue Advisory Committee members
OKFB members who served at the 2023 American Farm Bureau Issue Advisory Committee meeting in Washington, D.C., earlier this year will share the issues discussed during the national meetings and host a discussion of agriculture issues. The IAC members served on committees tasked with addressing both current and emerging issues, and the breakout session will serve as an opportunity to share what they learned and discuss the challenges and opportunities that agriculture will encounter in 2024.
Cultivating Healthy Minds
A session featuring Dr. Tobin Redwine will serve as the capstone for OKFB’s Cultivating Healthy Minds program. A Texas native and past Texas FFA president, Redwine will help OKFB members cultivate an awareness of the effects mental wellbeing plays on our state’s agriculturalists and rural communities.
Oklahoma Rural & Ag Business Accelerators program update
The third breakout session will feature an update on OKFB’s Oklahoma Grassroots Rural and Ag Business Accelerators program, which hosted its first rural and agricultural innovation cohorts. OKFB’s Rural Economic Development Coordinator, Amarie Bartel, will share the progress the program has made in 2023 and the ways the accelerators program is making a difference in our rural communities.
