The convention featured a variety of workshops on many topics. A livestock market update, FDA regulatory and issue update and application of UAS technology in precision agriculture were just a few of the informational sessions offered to members. Agricultural technology and innovation workshops will take the spotlight Saturday, Jan. 10 in San Diego, during the IDEAg Innovate Conference. Statement by Bob Stallman, AFBF President, regarding passage of Tax Extenders Bill
H.R. 5771, also known as the Tax Extenders Bill, passed the U.S. Congress yesterday. The bill contains a provision in the tax code, Section 179, which would allow a small business, like a farm or ranch, to expense up to $500,000 in capital investment, when requirements are met. Tax Increase Prevention Act is beneficial to Oklahoma farmers and ranchers
H.R. 5771, the Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014, is very important to Oklahoma farmers and ranchers. The bill contains a provision in the tax code, Section 179, which would allow a small business, like a farm or ranch, to expense up to $500,000 in capital investment, when requirements are met. The bill’s proposed language would increase the Section 179 tax deduction from $25,000 to $500,000 only for the year 2014. Amanda Rosholt was recently named the Director of Fundraising and Public Relations for the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation. As director, Rosholt will be responsible for raising funds and serving as the media relations contact for the foundation as well as maintaining the website. Oklahoma Farm Bureau delegates set priority issues for the next year
Voting delegates at the 73rd Oklahoma Farm Bureau Annual Convention selected two issues as top priorities for the next year. Oklahoma’s First Gentleman Wade Christensen was recognized with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Agriculture Advocate Award during Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 73rd Annual Convention on Nov. 15 in Tulsa. Several leadership positions, including three state board members, were decided during Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 73rd Annual Convention Nov. 14-16 in Tulsa. Voting delegates to the annual meeting elected three state directors, chairman of the Women’s Leadership Committee and chairman of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. District 1 Alan Jett of Beaver County was re-elected to a three-year term on the OKFB board of directors representing District 1.
