Oklahoma Farm Bureau partners with governor’s food drive
County Farm Bureau offices across Oklahoma are once again serving as drop-off locations for Gov. Mary Fallin’s fifth annual Feeding Oklahoma Drive. The goal of the food and fund drive is to raise enough food and funds to provide 2 million meals to help feed families, children and seniors in the state. Last week, we were notified of the passing of Bart McSpadden. For the past 18 years Bart has worked as a lobbyist and partner with McSpadden and Associates and during that time he has represented the interests of Oklahoma’s pork producers and the Oklahoma Pork Council. Bart is survived by his wife Kate, children Noah, Chloe, Tucker, and Luke, and his mother Donna McSpadden. After his father, Clem McSpadden, passed away in 2008, Bart continued the family lobbying firm along with his nephew James McSpadden. “Oklahoma Farm Bureau applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for standing with farmers and ranchers across the country by passing H.R. 5078, Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act. This legislation will help protect rural Oklahoma from the regulatory overreach by the EPA, specifically the proposed WOTUS rule. Oklahoma Farm Bureau to host Farm Safety Day at Heart of America Farm Show
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Safety Services will be hosting a Farm Safety Day on Sept. 20, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The event will be held in conjunction with the Heart of America Farm Show at the Tulsa RV Ranch. Oklahoma Farm Bureau is the largest general farm organization in the state of Oklahoma, with more than 100,000 members statewide. River navigation system important for agriculture
The economic impact of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System was highlighted during an August 28 press event at the Port of Catoosa. Hosted by Oklahoma Farm Bureau, the event featured presentations from U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-2, Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Jim Reese and OKFB President Tom Buchanan. “This waterway system provides a direct benefit for Oklahoma’s agricultural industry,” said Buchanan. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Team donates books to elementary schools in Moore
In Moore, Oklahoma, Plaza Towers Elementary School and Briarwood Elementary School are both gearing up for a busy year as students return to class. However, these two schools are different than others because both of these schools were destroyed during the May 20, 2013, tornado.
