The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the 2018 farm bill, also known as the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (H.R. 2). OKFB joins opposition to SQ 788
Oklahoma Farm Bureau this week has joined a group of statewide business, medical, faith and community leaders in opposing State Question 788 on the June 26 primary ballot. SQ 788 would amend Oklahoma state statutes to legalize medical marijuana. OKFB joined the SQ 788 is Not Medical Coalition, following a vote by the organization’s board of directors. OKFB WLC, Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation now accepting donated crops for books program
As wheat harvest continues across the state, Oklahoma farmers are invited to donate bushels of harvested crops to the Bushels for Books program. A partnership of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation, the program each year accepts donated crops and monetary contributions to provide Oklahoma schools with bushel baskets of agriculture books. To donate harvested crops, farmers present a completed Bushels for Books form to their local co-op or grain elevator to designate the amount of bushels they wish to donate to the program. OKAgFund endorses, funds candidates in state elections
The OKAgFund, Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s political action committee, has endorsed 22 candidates and donated to 71 candidates running for election in statewide, state Senate and state House races. The OKAgFund board met Friday, May 18, to donate a total of $63,000 to candidates and to choose candidates for endorsement based on input from farmers and ranchers across Oklahoma. Comprised of OKFB members from across the state, the OKAgFund identifies candidates who demonstrate beliefs and actions that are consistent with OKFB’s policies, regardless of political affiliation. Gov. Mary Fallin presented two Oklahoma Farm Bureau members with her Governor’s Agriculture Awards May 9 during a ceremony hosted by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry at the state Capitol.
