The Jeff and Holly Cooper family of Poteau received the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee’s District Five Farm and Ranch Family Recognition during the organization’s 77th annual meeting on Saturday, Nov. 17 in Norman. The Coopers have a herd of 100 Braford cows that Jeff said works well for the area. Oklahoma Farm Bureau women are encouraged to attend a Women’s Leadership Committee luncheon featuring American Farm Bureau Federation WLC Chair Sherry Saylor on Friday, Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m. during the OKFB annual meeting in Norman, Oklahoma. Farm Bureau women celebrate “Made in Oklahoma†at fall conference
More than 70 Farm Bureau women gathered at the 2018 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee Fall Conference Sept. 28-29 in Edmond, Oklahoma. With a “Made in Oklahoma” theme, the conference helped celebrate the food and fiber grown, raised, and produced in Oklahoma. Julie Sears, a marketing coordinator for the Made in Oklahoma Coalition, shared about MIO’s work to promote local products over a lunch during the conference. WLC, Foundation partner to donate accurate ag books to teachers
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and OKFB’s Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation have partnered to sponsor the 2018 Bushels for Books program, which awards teachers and school librarians bushel baskets of accurate agriculture books to be used in their classrooms and libraries across the state. Selected by the OKFB WLC, the books will cover various agriculture topics based on the grade levels receiving the books. Most books are elementary age appropriate. Three nursing students awarded $500 scholarships from WLC
Cade Baldwin of Stephens County, Cheyanne Gibbens of Okmulgee County and Logan Hukill of Caddo County each recently were awarded a scholarship to study nursing by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee. The annual scholarship program awards three $500 scholarships to students studying nursing at an accredited college, university, vo-tech or trade school. Oklahoma Farm Bureau women are invited to gather for the OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee Fall Conference to be held Sept. 28-29 at the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center in Edmond, Oklahoma. The two-day conference will feature special speakers, educational breakout sessions, a trade show, entertainment, fellowship and more. As wheat harvest continues across the state, Oklahoma farmers are invited to donate bushels of harvested crops to the Bushels for Books program. A partnership of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation, the program each year accepts donated crops and monetary contributions to provide Oklahoma schools with bushel baskets of agriculture books. To donate harvested crops, farmers present a completed Bushels for Books form to their local co-op or grain elevator to designate the amount of bushels they wish to donate to the program.
