Thousands of farmers could unknowingly face federal fines or jail time

Animal disease traceability rule changes: what producers need to know
November 5, 2024, marked the implementation date for the updated federal animal disease traceability regulations requiring electronic identification tags in certain classes of cattle and bison crossing state lines. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service implemented the new rule to better pinpoint and respond to animal disease outbreaks in hopes to limit both the spread of disease and the economic impacts of disease on livestock producers. OKFB, ag groups request to submit amicus curiae brief in poultry case
Oklahoma Farm Bureau teamed up with four fellow agricultural organizations to support poultry farmers in a case before the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Congressman Frank Lucas was recognized with the Distinguished Service to Oklahoma Farm Bureau Award on Saturday, Nov. 9, during the organization’s 83rd annual meeting in Oklahoma City. More than 40 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members gathered for the annual state resolutions committee meeting Oct. 22-23 in Oklahoma City. The committee comprised of Farm Bureau members representing the 27 counties selected for the 2024 resolutions committee as well as representatives from the OKFB state board of directors, Young Farmers and Ranchers, and the Women’s Leadership Committee.
