OKFB Legal Foundation to host water summit Sept. 6

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Legal Foundation is set to host the first-ever water summit on Friday, Sept. 6, at the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center in Stillwater. Thursday, May 30, marked the end of the 2024 Oklahoma legislative session as state lawmakers adjourned sine die in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Ag PAC political action committee has endorsed five congressional candidates and 30 state candidates ahead of Oklahoma’s primary election on Tuesday, June 18. The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is set to host the third round of stakeholder input meetings in April and May. As the largest user of water in Oklahoma, it is crucial for agriculture to have a voice in these meetings. The stakeholder meetings will center on the impending updates to Oklahoma’s Comprehensive Water Plan with discussions on water policy, future water supply and demand, water challenges and more. Oklahoma Farm Bureau is now accepting applications for Capitol Camp, set for June 12-13, 2024, at the Oklahoma state Capitol in Oklahoma City. Capitol Camp is an immersive two-day legislative experience for incoming high school juniors and seniors to learn about Oklahoma’s legislative process and how bills become law through a mock legislature held on the floor of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Nearly 100 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members gathered in Oklahoma City for the organization’s 2024 Leadership Conference held Tuesday, Feb. 13. The annual event serves to bring Farm Bureau members together for a day of learning and fellowship with a number of speakers and guests throughout the conference.
