The Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation hosted a Right to Farm Training for the Oklahoma Agri-Women June 23 at the OKFB home office in Oklahoma City. Members of Oklahoma Agri-Women were instructed on a variety of talking points when advocating for State Question 777. The training also addressed several media tips, including social media. Food, fun and camaraderie flowed in Bricktown as Oklahoma Farm Bureau hosted “Get on Tap with 777,” an event that showed Oklahoma City residents the need for the Right to Farm in Oklahoma. OKFB President Tom Buchanan praises Senate GMO labeling legislation
Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issued the following statement in support of U.S. Senate proposed legislation to create a uniform, national standard for GMO labeling. “Genetically modified crops have allowed farmers to significantly increase the quality of food and fiber they produce, all while using less land and fewer pesticides. OKFB to host “Get on Tap with 777”
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is set to host “Get on Tap with 777” June 30 at 5 p.m. at TapWerk’s Ale House in Oklahoma City. At the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about State Question 777, or the Right to Farm bill. Guests will enjoy free appetizers and drinks. The event will also collect items of fresh produce to be donated to the City Rescue Mission. Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issued the following statement in response to Gov. Mary Fallin’s veto of SB 1142, which would have eliminated all restrictions on the removal of feral hogs. “Oklahoma Farm Bureau is disappointed in Gov. The Oklahoma House of Representatives today passed SB 1142 to remove all restrictions on hunting and removing feral hogs. OKFB members advocate for rural Oklahoma in nation’s capital
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members representing all nine OKFB districts took Capitol Hill last week for the organization’s annual Congressional Action Tour to Washington, D.C. The trip was an opportunity for OKFB members to share concerns and issues in agriculture with Oklahoma’s Congressional delegation. “Oklahoma’s Congressional leaders need to hear from our members,” said Tom Buchanan, OKFB president. “This year’s trip provided another opportunity to increase Farm Bureau’s presence on Capitol Hill.” Members learned about federal issues from Sen.
