Oklahoma Farm Bureau submitted comments to the National Park Service regarding the Chisholm and Great Western National Historic Trails Feasibility Study and Draft Environmental Assessment. OKFB is concerned with the planning and implementation of the proposed national historic trail and the potential impacts for landowners and agriculture as well as the overall potential cost. Pacelle credits Farm Bureau with pressuring HSUS during Senate questioning
During a March 17 hearing by the U.S. Senate subcommittee on Fisheries, Water, and Wildlife, HSUS President Wayne Pacelle credited Farm Bureau for pressuring his organization to divulge the fact only about 6 percent of the more than $1.7 million raised in past several years actually went to animal shelters. Rural Opportunity Zone bill good for rural Oklahoma
The Oklahoma House of Representative passage of HB 1747 is being hailed by Farm Bureau as good for rural Oklahoma. The bill allows for the creation of 25 Rural Opportunity Zones. Beginning in 2016, this bill would allow for a five-year tax exemption for anyone who moves from out-of-state into a county projected to see a population loss. The bill’s primary author is Rep. Tom Newell. During our conversations with House Speaker Jeff Hickman, a co-author of the legislation, we know he realizes the importance of rural Oklahoma and the impact the area has on the state’s economy.
OKFB Congressional Action Tour set for April 12-16
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Congressional Action Tour is scheduled for April 12-16, 2015, in Washington, D.C. This tour gives OKFB members an opportunity to visit with legislators and federal leaders about issues of importance to rural Oklahoma. Members wil have the opportunity to hear from American Farm Bureau on a variety of issues along with visiting Congressional Representatives and Senators. The trip will also feature a Legislative Reception and an option tour of Monticello. Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. OKFB Leadership Conference is canceled, will be rescheduled
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Leadership Conference scheduled for Feb. 16-17, 2015, has been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date. Several other Farm Bureau week activities have also been canceled for today so be sure to check with your local Farm Bureau office for an update on events and activities. OKFB will let you know as soon as possible of the updated date for the Leadership Conference.

OKFB to host Leadership Conference, Feb. 16-17
Oklahoma Farm Bureau will host their annual Leadership Conference Feb. 16-17 in Oklahoma City at the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel. The conference focuses on updating members on the legislative issues at state and federal levels for the year. The agenda for the two-day conference features Congressman Frank Lucas and Congressman Steve Russell, who will be giving updates from Washington, D.C. Also on the agenda is Lt.
