Oklahoma Farm Bureau leaders across the state are invited to share the work of farmers and ranchers by participating in Read an Accurate Agriculture Book Week to be observed Sept. 8-11, 2020. Farm Bureau members may participate by reading an accurate agriculture book to students in their community. The OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee has provided accurate agriculture books at each county office that may be used. Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom also will grant every educator, FFA chapter and 4-H club that participates the opportunity to win a bushel basket full of accurate agriculture books. Applications for accurate agriculture books due Sept. 18
Do you know a teacher or librarian that could benefit from accurate agriculture books in their classroom or school library? The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee has partnered with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture to help ensure more books covering agriculture make their way into classrooms across the state. To be eligible, a teacher must submit an application for a specific grade level or a librarian may submit an application for books that span multiple grade levels. Two Oklahoma educators awarded AFBF Foundation grants
The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has awarded two Oklahoma educators with a White-Reinhardt Resource grant. Dusti McCartney of Willard Grade Center in Ada and Debra Wood of Orvis Risner Elementary in Edmond were two of 70 educators across the country presented with a $100 credit to the AFBF Foundation for Agriculture store. The purpose of these grants is to provide funds to educators to purchase accurate agricultural literacy materials from the AFBF Foundation for Agriculture store for use in their classrooms. OKFB WLC awards four nurse’s training scholarships
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee has recently awarded four $500 scholarships to nursing students from across the state. Recipients of the scholarship include Kaitlyn Kilan, Medford; Samuel Langley, Pauls Valley; Myranda Oliva, Moore; and Michelle Tripp, Braman. Recipients will be attending universities including East Central University, Northern Oklahoma College, Western Governors University and Oklahoma City University. Farm Bureau women donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities in Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee recently donated gift cards and snacks to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The snacks were donated by Farm Bureau women from across the state over the last few months. The contributions were a part of an effort by the American Farm Bureau Federation and other Farm Bureau organizations across the country to raise $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities in honor of AFBF’s centennial. WLC to collect donations for Ronald McDonald House Charities during OKFB convention
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee is joining efforts with the American Farm Bureau Federation and other Farm Bureau organizations across the country to raise $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities in honor of AFBF’s centennial. Farm Bureau members attending the OKFB Annual Meeting Nov. 8-10 in Oklahoma City are encouraged to bring individually wrapped, store-bought snack food items such as trail mix, pretzels, crackers, bagged popcorn, granola bars and dried fruit for the RMHC in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Fourteen Oklahoma educators from across the state were awarded a basket of agriculture books for their classrooms during Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 77th Annual Meeting held Nov. 16-18 in Norman, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, alongside the OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee, sponsored this year’s Bushels for Books program.
