The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is now accepting applications for their annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student. Bushels for Books applications due Oct. 24
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation Bushels for Books applications are now available. High School Discussion Meet to be held Nov. 10; registration deadline is Oct. 31
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their annual High School Discussion Meet at the OKFB annual meeting in Oklahoma City on Thursday, Nov. 10. The contest is open to current high school students in 4-H or FFA. Each club or chapter may send one participant, who must attend a brief orientation on November 10 before the contest begins. The meet provides 4-H and FFA members throughout the state with an educational opportunity to enhance their speaking, reasoning and presentation skills all while analyzing issues in agriculture. Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers program is looking for bright young Farm Bureau agriculturalists ages 18-35 to compete in a variety of programs for recognition for their contributions to agriculture. Applications for the YF&R competitive events, which include the Achievement Award, the Excellence in Agriculture Award, the Discussion Meet and the Charles Roff Award are due Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. OKFB YF&R host annual state fair livestock judging contest
Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers committee hosted more than 1,000 Oklahoma agriculture students at the group’s annual Oklahoma State Fair livestock judging contest held September 15 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. OKFB YF&R members visit Enid during annual conference
More than 50 young agriculturalists gathered in Enid for the two-day Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers conference July 8-9. Oklahoma youth attend OKFB leadership conference
Nineteen of Oklahoma’s top 20 high school seniors spent three days learning about leadership, team building and agriculture at the fifth annual Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference, June 15-17, in Oklahoma City. YF&R Golf Classic to be held May 6 near Watonga
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their 14th annual YF&R Golf Classic Friday, May 6th at Roman Nose Golf Course near Watonga. The annual scramble-style tournament opens with check-in at 9 a.m., and golfers will tee off at 10 a.m. Several prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be provided. All proceeds from the event will be given to support State Question 777, the Right to Farm. Registration is being accepted now through April 29th for teams and individuals. Piper Merritt of Owasso, Oklahoma, was the winner of the high school discussion meet held by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers. Dalton Miller, Joseph Pfeiffer, Katie Symes and Parker Terrell were the other four finalists.
