The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers are pleased to announce a new event will be added to the OKFB convention schedule. On Thursday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m., YF&R will host the inaugural high school discussion meet for FFA and 4-H members throughout the state to take part in as an educational and résumé-building experience. Martin Williams, OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers chairman and Noble County farmer whose expertise has been sought out by government agencies from all over the world, has been named a 2014 Master Agronomist Award recipient by Oklahoma State University’s Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Young Farmers and Ranchers award scholarships to nine graduating seniors
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee recently awarded nine $1,000 scholarships, one per each state board district, to graduating high school seniors. Annual Young Farmers and Ranchers Golf Classic benefits OKFB Legal Foundation
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers state committee raised more than $16,000 for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Legal Foundation during the annual YF&R Golf Classic, May 16. The 12th annual event was held at Choctaw Creek Golf Course where 23 teams competed in a four-man scramble. Producers encouraged to donate bushels for books
As summer harvest approaches for many around the state, the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation are asking producers to participate in the new Bushels for Books program created to help educate Oklahoma youth about agriculture. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers have announced the schedule for the group’s 2014 Spring Tour, which will be held April 25 – 26 in northeast Oklahoma. This two-day event is an opportunity for YF&R members to explore the diverse agricultural commodities produced in Oklahoma. The 2014 tour is scheduled for northeastern Oklahoma, with stops including the Port of Catoosa and Moore’s Fish Farm. The spring tour is a great time to network with fellow YF&R members, while learning more about the products that drive the agricultural industry around the state. Schnaithman wins Farm Bureau Discussion Meet
Travis Schnaithman, of Garber, was named the 2013 Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet winner at the Oklahoma Farm Bureau 72nd Annual Meeting, Nov. 15, in Norman. Schnaithman competed against four other participants in three rounds of debate-style discussion where performance was evaluated on the exchange of ideas and information on pre-determined topics. Participants were judged on their ability to offer constructive criticism, cooperation and communication while analyzing agricultural problems and developing solutions.
