The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee hosted their annual shotgun shoot Aug. 27 at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie, raising more than $19,000 to benefit the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture. The group hosted nearly 140 shooters on 34 four-person teams. The event tested shooters’ skills at stations mimicking real-life hunting scenarios. The first-place team – Hayden Hillary, Koy Davidson, Charlie Zimmerman and Cooper Davidson – and second-place team – Cody Richerds, Hunter Campbell, Clay Robertson and Nolin Marcus of Murray State College – received a cash prize. OKFB YF&R to host state fair livestock judging contest Sept. 15
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee is set to host the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Thursday, Sept. 15 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The annual competition offers 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to showcase their livestock judging skills in both market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. While no oral reasons will be given in the competition, participants will be asked to answer at least one set of questions. YF&R members gather in Enid for summer conference
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers hosted their annual summer conference July 29-31 in Enid. The nearly 60 Farm Bureau members ages 18-35 toured local agricultural facilities, competed in a discussion meet and networked with fellow farmers and ranchers. The weekend kicked off Friday, July 29 with dinner and tour of Schnaithman Farms near Garber, where the family primarily grows wheat and raises cattle. Members competed in friendly competitions of volleyball and cornhole while making lifelong friends. High school students selected to attend OYLA conference
Thirteen incoming high school seniors were recently selected to attend the 2022 Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference June 14-17. The conference, hosted by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers, is designed to prepare high school students for a future career in agriculture and to advance leadership skills. High school students completing their junior year in 2022 are encouraged to apply for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference held June 14-17 in Oklahoma City. The four-day leadership conference will include special leadership classes, exciting speakers, team building and visits to agriculture-related industries. OKFB YF&R awards ten $1,000 scholarships
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee recently awarded nine $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and one $1,000 to a Collegiate Farm Bureau member. OKFB members attend AFBF YF&R Leadership Conference
Nearly 20 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers attended the American Farm Bureau YF&R Leadership Conference Feb. 25-28 in Louisville, Kentucky. YF&R members from all 50 states and Puerto Rico gathered to build their leadership skills, connect with like-minded agriculturalists, grow their knowledge of agriculture and learn about the agriculture industry in Kentucky. Ottawa County Farm Bureau member Alisen Anderson was appointed to serve a two-year term on the AFBF YF&R committee, where she will assist in the coordination of YF&R events, competitive events and the Harvest for All program. The OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers committee will hold their annual legislative day Feb. 16 at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
