The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee will sponsor the annual Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest on Sept. 16 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. With a junior and senior division, the contest will include market and breeding classes of beef cattle, sheep and swine. Students in third through seventh grades will be in the junior division and students in eighth through 12th grades will be in the senior division. More than 50 members gathered near Broken Bow for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Summer Conference held July 30-31. The conference provided a chance for members to gather with fellow agricultural producers, experience agriculture in southeastern Oklahoma and learn about opportunities with YF&R and Farm Bureau. Much of the two-day event was dedicated to tours of various agricultural enterprises across southeast Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers is set to host their third annual shotgun shoot Aug. 28 at Quail Ridge Hunting and Sporting Clays in McLoud, Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, which strives to connect consumers of all ages with individuals who work daily to produce their food and fiber. Farm Bureau members ages 18 to 35 are invited to attend the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Summer Conference to be held July 30-31 in Broken Bow. The two-day conference will offer YF&R members the chance to meet farmers and ranchers from across the state, tour local agricultural facilities and learn more about YF&R leadership opportunities and programs. Jenny Haken of Payne County Farm Bureau was named the winner of the 2020 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet held in conjunction with the group’s caucus on Saturday, Oct. 24 in Oklahoma City.
