Country music singer Crystal Gayle will entertain Oklahoma Farm Bureau members as they gather for a final celebration of the organization’s 75th anniversary Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. during the 2017 OKFB Annual Meeting in Norman, Oklahoma.
State elected officials and community and industry leaders will join county Farm Bureau members for dinner and entertainment as the organization celebrates its rich 75-year history.
Following in the footsteps of her older sister and country music legend Loretta Lynn, Gayle set out at an early age to be a musician. She released her first single in 1970 at the age of 19. “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” would soon make Gayle a crossover superstar, hitting No. 1 on the country chart and No. 2 on the pop chart in 1976. That smash led to several others, and Grammy and CMA awards followed Gayle throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Gayle was named the Country Music Association’s “Female Vocalist of the Year,” for two consecutive years, and became a Grammy Award winner for “Best Female Vocal Performance,” thanks to her “Brown Eyes” hit.
Gayle swept the Academy of Country Music Awards for three of its “Top Female Vocalist” statuettes. She also is the recipient of three “American Music Awards,” voted by the nation as America’s “Favorite Female Artist.” Gayle was awarded with a star on the fabled Hollywood Walk of Fame in October 2009.
