The National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) recently honored Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Director of Corporate Communications/Public Relations, Sam Knipp with their top award.
Knipp received the Honored Professional Award June 1 at the 2005 National ACT Conference in San Antonio, Texas. He was recognized for his dedicated service to and support of agricultural communications students. Knipp is the first Farm Bureau leader to receive this award, while continuing to support young communicators in the agricultural industry.
“I am very honored to receive this outstanding award,” Knipp said. “I enjoy working with students, and I really believe there is a need for agricultural reporters and journalists. The ACT is a great place to find students who want to tell agriculture’s story.”
The ACT is a collegiate organization designated for agricultural communications students. It strives to strengthen students through professional growth opportunities and educational programs. The organization focuses on building positive relationships with agricultural communications professionals and students for industry and academic development.
Knipp has been involved in Farm Bureau and has served the agricultural communications industry for more than 25 years. He worked in Kansas Farm Bureau’s communications division from 1979 to 1996 before moving to Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Knipp has consistently served as a mentor to communications students, establishing internship programs in each state’s Farm Bureau communications division.
