The Oklahoma Farm Bureau communications and public relations department was presented with three American Farm Bureau 2024 Communications Awards during the 2024 AFBF Communications Conference in Waco, TX, May 15.
The awards were earned for outstanding communications work supporting agriculture and Farm Bureau’s grassroots advocacy efforts. Entries were judged against states with similar membership sizes with three awards in each category presented to state Farm Bureaus in different membership groups.
OKFB won the best social media video category for the OKFB District 7 Farm and Ranch Family Recognition Program video feature telling the story of the Regier family of Grant County. The video organically reached more than 250,000 users on Facebook and garnered more than 2,800 reactions.
The communications department also earned two awards for their public relations work.
The best public relations campaign award was received for the Cultivating Healthy Minds program campaign, a member-led effort to foster conversations about mental wellbeing that included webinars, magazine stories, personal video testimonials and more.
The communications department was recognized for the No on SQ 820 media event at the OKFB home office in Oklahoma City that rallied Oklahoma’s agriculture community to speak out against the legalization of recreational marijuana in March 2023. The event garnered statewide news coverage, helping prevent the passage of the state question through grassroots advocacy.
“Our state Farm Bureau communicators are dedicated to sharing the voices of farm and ranch families across the country,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “The work of our communicators is second to none and I’m proud of them for continually evolving to keep pace with the rapidly changing communications field. Congratulations to the winning states and my thanks to all Farm Bureau communicators.”
