Seven OKFB members have been tapped to serve on the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Issue Advisory Committees in February in Washington, D.C.
The Issue Advisory Committees create an avenue for Farm Bureau’s grassroots leaders to contribute their expertise on specific issues to the organization’s policy. The IAC is made up of 11 committees, and each committee consists of 8, 12 or 16 members.
The outcomes from each committee include advice and counsel to the AFBF Board of Directors on policy-related actions AFBF might take, recommendations for state Farm Bureaus, and input to the AFBF Resolutions Committee.
OKFB members selected and their respective committee appointments are: David VonTungeln, animal health; Travis Schnaithman, budget and economy; Monte Tucker, energy; Scott Neufeld, farm policy; Mason Bolay, market structures; Stacy Simunek, technology; and Charles Rohla, wildlife damage.
The annual IAC meeting will be held in Washington, D.C., Feb. 19-20. All other meetings will be held via zoom or webinars for committee members across the country.
Each OKFB member was nominated to their respective committee by OKFB President Rodd Moesel. They serve a two-year term with a maximum length of service of four years total. In addition to the annual in-person meeting, committees meet regularly via conference call or Zoom to continue their discussion and make recommendations to the AFBF Board of Directors.
