The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee is proud to sponsor the 2022 Oklahoma Farm to School Garden of the Year contest.
The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Farm to School program encourages teachers to integrate agricultural lessons into their everyday curriculum so students can learn more about where their food comes from.
Schools who have an established garden or are creating a garden are encouraged to apply for one of the five grants offered. The contest encourages teachers to share the world of horticulture and healthy eating habits with students of all ages.
The five contest categories include: best overall school garden, best education-based school garden, best harvest partnership school garden, best community collaboration school garden and best start-up school garden.
School gardens can include an indoor herb garden in a windowsill of a classroom, outdoor raised beds, in-ground farms, or a greenhouse.
Applicants for this contest may be any public pre-K to 12th grade school, private pre-K to 12th grade school, early childhood education facility, and alternative learning environment.
The deadline to enter this contest is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Winners will be announced September 15, 2022, by email and phone.
