American Farm Bureau: TPP Will Boost Farm Exports, Income
The Trans-Pacific Partnership will tear down trade barriers and help level the playing field for U.S. agricultural exports to 11 nations across the Pacific Rim. Ratifying TPP will boost annual net farm income in the United States by $4.4 billion, compared to not approving the pact, according to an economic analysis conducted by the American Farm Bureau Federation. Oklahoma alone would see cash receipts for agricultural products increase by $144 million by year and net agricultural exports increase by $102 million per year if the TPP is ratified by Congress. Oklahoma’s export gains to TPP countries would come mostly from […]

An online survey – http://usdaprograms.questionpro.com/ – launched by the American Farm Bureau Federation will collect feedback from farmers and ranchers about their experiences with 10 Agriculture Department programs housed in three agencies. Results will be used by AFBF to develop recommendations on how USDA can enhance its programs and make them more useful to farmers and ranchers. All farmers and ranchers, not just Farm Bureau members, are encouraged to take the survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete. “Farmers and ranchers sometimes find it confusing and complex to participate in USDA programs,” said former AFBF President Bob Stallman. “At […]

As the voice of Oklahoma agriculture, OKAgPolicy is just one more way we can help protect those who produce our food.” Along with […]

OKFB urges members to comment on ODAFF feral hog rules
Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently submitted comments on the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry’s proposed rules regarding feral hogs. The proposed rules create a feral swine-free zone which includes 11 northwest Oklahoma counties. They also increase recordkeeping requirements for transporting, handling and sporting facilities. Restrictions on bringing feral swine into the state also are made permanent by the rule. ODAFF claims the rules will “adopt aggressive measures for the eradication of feral swine in the state of Oklahoma.” Yet OKFB found the rules lenient, saying the “proposed rules have the appearance of being a step in the right direction; […]
