Gary Buckner has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations for Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Affiliated Companies. Buckner, former Vice President of Claims for OKFB Mutual Insurance Company, takes over an expanded and redefined position following the untimely passing of Robert Peeler, Vice President of FB Building Corp. Buckner’s new responsibilities include managing the building’s infrastructure, company vehicle fleet and the Information Systems department. American Farm Bureau Kicks Off 2015 Photo Contest
The American Farm Bureau Federation, in conjunction with the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, has announced the 2015 Farm Bureau Photo Contest. The contest is open to all state and county Farm Bureau members and staff above 18 years of age at the time of entry, including professional photographers. Young Farmers & Ranchers announce summer conference dates, preliminary details
Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee will hold its summer conference July 10-11 in Stillwater. Young agriculturalists ages 18-35 from around the state are invited to gather together as the group tours local agricultural facilities, hears from speakers on important farm and food topics, and engages with each other to learn first-hand about new ideas in farming, ranching and agribusiness. Farm Bureau selects nine students to receive college scholarships
Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee selected nine Oklahoma high school seniors to receive $1,000 scholarships to pursue agricultural degrees. Students receiving scholarships are: Megan Trantham, Boise City, District 1; Tucker Sawatzky, Weatherford, District 2; Madison Reasnor, Cashion, District 3; Samantha Howe, Sulphur, District 4; Bay Bolen, Idabel, District 5; Hallie Barnes, Hulbert, District 6; Lakan Light, Enid, District 7; Kase Donor, Konawa, District 8; and Colton Pratz, Stillwater, District 9. “The U.S. House of Representatives’ bipartisan vote to repeal the EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule sends a strong signal that farmers, ranchers, and other landowners will not tolerate the heavy hand of federal agencies dictating unnecessary and burdensome regulations. “Obviously, the grass-roots involvement of Farm Bureau members voicing strong opposition to WOTUS had an impact. “The WOTUS proposal would have created a land use management nightmare, restricting our ability to grow food and fiber. “We applaud the House for stopping the proposal and urge President Obama to support the repeal.”
‘Get a Move on for GMOs’ Helps Farmers Stand Up for Biotechnology

Members of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee shared the farm and ranch story with third- and fourth-grade students during Super Ag Day held May 6 and 7 in Oklahoma City. The WLC members used the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation’s commodity trailer to share with students how food gets from the field to consumers’ tables. YF&R Golf Classic postponed, rescheduled for July
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Golf Classic scheduled for Friday, May 8, has been moved to Thursday, July 9, due to unfavorable weather conditions. The scramble-style tournament will be held in conjunction with the summer YF&R conference. The Golf Classic will still be held in Enid. Registration for the tournament will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with tee-off at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided throughout the day to golfers.
