Registration for 2023 YF&R Summer Conference open
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee invites Farm Bureau members ages 18-35 to attend the YF&R Summer Conference July 28-30 in Oklahoma City. The conference will offer YF&R members the chance to meet farmers and ranchers from across the state, tour local agricultural facilities around Oklahoma City and Guthrie and learn more about YF&R leadership opportunities and programs. Carson and Schaufele join OKFB as summer interns
Two Oklahoma State University students joined Oklahoma Farm Bureau in May as summer interns. Liberty Carson and Caden Schaufele will assist with OKFB programs and participate in activities and events throughout the coming months. Carson is an animal science and agribusiness junior at OSU. Carson will primarily work with the public policy department and the Young Farmers and Ranchers. Supreme court WOTUS decision a step in the right direction for Oklahoma agriculture
The U.S. Supreme Court today ruled in favor of landowner rights in their Sackett v. Bushels for Books applications due June 15
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s Bushels for Books application is now available. The program provides accurate agriculture books to schools across the state. Pre-k to eighth-grade teachers can submit an application for their grade level or a school librarian can submit an application for books that span multiple grade levels. All books available are grade level appropriate and will be chosen from the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s agriculture book database. Twenty incoming high school seniors were selected to attend the 2023 Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference June 13-16 in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference is hosted by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee to instill leadership skills and provide attendees a deeper look into Oklahoma agriculture. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers recognize members each year for their achievements through several awards, and applications for these awards are now open. The YF&R committee is opening applications for the YF&R Achievement Award, YF&R Excellence in Agriculture Award and the YF&R Discussion Meet. Oklahoma Broadband Office launches 17-stop “Let’s Get Digital” listening tour
The Oklahoma Broadband Office’s statewide broadband listening tour will be making several tour stops in the coming weeks across the state, and Oklahoma Farm Bureau members are encouraged to attend. The “Let’s Get Digital: Oklahoma Broadband Tour” will pass through 17 cities and towns to gather public input for a five-year plan to connect the entire state to high-speed internet. OKFB members attend Ag Tour in southwestern Arkansas
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members spent three days learning about Arkansas agriculture May 3-5 during OKFB’s Ag Tour 2023. The group kicked off the trip with a tour of Parks Brothers Farms in Van Buren, Arkansas, to learn about the farm’s nursery operation. Members heard from third-generation agriculturist and owner Jason Parks. The next stop was at the Fort Smith National Historic Site in Fort Smith.
