Attend the 2023 AFBF Convention Jan. 6-11, 2023, in Puerto Rico
All Oklahoma Farm Bureau members are invited to attend the 2023 American Farm Bureau Convention January 6-11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 104th convention will feature general sessions, grassroots policy development, educational workshops, a trade show and competitive events. An extended trip option from AFBF is available for January 11-15. Members will have the opportunity to see agriculture in Puerto Rico including cattle research facilities, fruit farms and much more. OKFB wraps up 2022 August Area Meetings, grassroots policy development process moves forward
Another year of August Area Meetings has come to a close. Farm Bureau members from every corner of the state gathered for a total of 11 districtwide meetings during the weeks of August 8 and August 15. August Area Meetings serve as the beginning of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s grassroots policy development season where members bring forth top issues facing farmers and ranchers. A program of Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom, agriculture leaders across the state will have the opportunity to join together in telling the agriculture story and sharing the importance of agriculture. OKFB YF&R to host state fair livestock judging contest Sept. 15
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee is set to host the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Thursday, Sept. 15 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The annual competition offers 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to showcase their livestock judging skills in both market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. While no oral reasons will be given in the competition, participants will be asked to answer at least one set of questions. Participate in OKFB Fire Department Matching Program
Oklahoma Farm Bureau, the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture and OKFB Insurance are providing matching funds to county Farm Bureaus that make donations to assist fire departments in their area as Oklahoma battles drought. All 77 counties in the state are facing varying levels of drought, increasing the chances for wildfires to spark and calling local fire departments into action. The OKFB Fire Department Matching Program will match county Farm Bureaus’ donations to one or multiple fire departments. YF&R members gather in Enid for summer conference
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers hosted their annual summer conference July 29-31 in Enid. The nearly 60 Farm Bureau members ages 18-35 toured local agricultural facilities, competed in a discussion meet and networked with fellow farmers and ranchers. The weekend kicked off Friday, July 29 with dinner and tour of Schnaithman Farms near Garber, where the family primarily grows wheat and raises cattle. Members competed in friendly competitions of volleyball and cornhole while making lifelong friends. OKFB WLC donates blankets to Norman Veterans Home
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee members presented approximately 50 handmade blankets to the Normans Veterans Home on Monday, July 18. The blankets were made by OKFB members as a community service project during the WLC’s annual conference held in April. Candice McIntire, activity director at the Norman Veterans Home, said the blankets are an invaluable resource for the veterans at the facility. “Several of our veterans – as they get older – they get cold,” McIntire said. “They will be used to keep them warm. OKFB Ag PAC issues additional endorsements, financial support for candidates in upcoming elections
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Ag PAC endorsed an additional four candidates and added $29,900 in financial support for candidates before the Aug. 23 runoff election. Headlining the field of new endorsees is Markwayne Mullin, a candidate for Sen. Jim Inhofe’s unexpired seat in the United States Senate. Mullin faces T.W. Shannon in the upcoming primary runoff. OKFB chosen as State Business Accelerator Program partner for rural Oklahoma
Oklahoma Farm Bureau has been chosen as one of three entities that will manage the new State of Oklahoma Business Accelerator Program. OKFB was selected to administer the accelerator program in rural parts of the state by the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology. The accelerator program was created to help Oklahoma companies grow while creating jobs in the state. The program has been a priority for Gov.
