Sen. Jim Inhofe announced today his retirement from the United States Senate after more than 50 years in public office. Seven Farm Bureau members represented Oklahoma at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Issue Advisory Committee meetings February 17-18 in Arlington, VA. The IAC meetings bring together Farm Bureau members from across the country to discuss pertinent issues facing agriculture including energy, environmental regulations, ag labor, organic and direct marketing, technology, animal care, farm policy, water, budget and economy, federal land, food safety and market structures. As we move into the third week of the 2022 legislative session, both chambers have been busy considering legislation through committee work. The first deadline of the session is approaching on March 3rd, giving the Oklahoma House of Representatives and Senate only two more weeks to pass new legislation out of its assigned committee. OKFB hosts successful Leadership Conference
More than 100 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members, guests and legislators gathered for OKFB’s State Leadership Conference Tuesday, Feb. 15 in Oklahoma City. The event kicked off with Donnie Anderson, director of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, giving an update on medical marijuana in Oklahoma and explaining the challenges the booming industry has posed. Ten legislators honored with OKFB Champion award
Ten Oklahoma legislators were honored with the 2021 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Champion award at the organization’s annual leadership conference Feb. 15 in Oklahoma City. 2022 OKFB Congressional Action Tour canceled
Oklahoma Farm Bureau has decided to cancel the 2022 Congressional Action Tour, which was scheduled for March 28-31 in Washington, D.C. Many of the planned stops in the nation’s capital are currently closed due to the ongoing pandemic. Members who were planning on attending the trip would not be able to visit congressional offices or government agencies to discuss issues facing agriculture and rural Oklahoma. OKFB holds first-ever Generation Bridge conference in OKC
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members ages 35-50 gathered for the inaugural Generation Bridge conference held Jan. 28-29 in Oklahoma City. The conference was the kickoff event for OKFB’s new Generation Bridge program, which targets OKFB members who are in the middle of their agriculture careers and want to expand their agricultural knowledge, connections and leadership experience.
