Kara Miner, a senior at Perkins-Tryon High School, was awarded a $1,000 college scholarship through the Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture Ag in the Classroom Scholarship Challenge by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee on Friday, Nov. 5 at the organization’s annual meeting in Norman. OKFB Foundation donates agriculture books to 12 Oklahoma schools
Twelve Oklahoma educators from across the state were awarded a basket of agriculture books for their schools during Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 80th Annual Meeting Nov. 5 in Norman. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, in partnership with the OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee, sponsored this year’s Bushels for Books program. Oklahoma Farm Bureau presented its District Administrator of the Year Awards on Friday, Nov. 5 at the organization’s 80th Annual Meeting in Norman. The District Administrator of the Year Award is presented to one county Farm Bureau administrator from each OKFB district for their contributions to the overall success of their county Farm Bureau. Dr. Thomas Coon, vice president, dean and director of the Oklahoma State University Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, was recognized with the Distinguished Service to Oklahoma Farm Bureau Award on Friday, Nov. 5 during the organization’s 80th annual meeting in Norman. OKFB members share highlights of cotton harvest with OETA
Jackson County Farm Bureau members Matt Muller and Mike Schulz recently shared the highlights of this year’s cotton harvest in a OETA story. Cotton, Oklahoma’s fourth largest export, is being harvested across the state until around Thanksgiving. “Every once in a blue moon, things (demand, prices and production) will line up,” Muller said. “This year prices are at a 10-year high, which is good.” Both Muller and Schulz explained the cotton industry fluctuates from year to year and is dependent on the world economy and weather conditions. Three coffee talk sessions to be hosted during OKFB Annual Meeting
Oklahoma Farm Bureau will offer three coffee talk sessions on the final day of the organization’s 80th annual meeting Sun., Nov. 7 at 7:15 a.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Norman. The sessions will provide members a chance to share ideas on the top of mind in an informal meeting setting. Fanning joins OKFB as economic development coordinator
Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently named Megan Fanning as the organization’s economic development coordinator. OKFB state resolutions committee reviews grassroots policy proposals for 2022
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members from across the state gathered Oct. 19-20 in Oklahoma City to review, discuss and amend proposed policies to the organization’s grassroots 2022 policy book. Farmers and ranchers from all 77 county organizations submitted policy resolutions, which were then sorted, amended and combined by the more than 40 members serving on the state resolutions committee. Private pesticide applicator education session available during the OKFB Annual Meeting Nov. 5
Oklahoma Farm Bureau will host a private pesticide applicator continuing education session at the OKFB Annual Meeting Friday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Code of Federal Regulations part 171 requires applicators to receive education units after receiving the license.
