OKFB hosts record-breaking state fair livestock judging contest
Oklahoma Farm Bureau hosted 64 schools, totaling 2,023 4-H and FFA students for the annual state fair livestock judging contest on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Oklahoma State Fair. Participants judged eight classes of cattle, hogs, sheep and goats. Students evaluated eight breeding classes of cattle, sheep, goats and hogs. Participants also answered two sets of questions about one class of cattle and one class of hogs. Cultivating Healthy Minds Session 2 Wrap-up
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members and guests continued their mental wellbeing journey with the second Cultivating Healthy Minds session Friday, Sept. 6. The session, focused on managing relationships, featured Monica McConkey, founder of Eyes on the Horizon Consulting. McConkey was raised on a farm and now has served 25 years working in the rural behavioral health field. She created Eyes on the Horizon Consulting in 2016 where she has been serving rural families in Minnesota. OKFB YF&R to host state fair livestock judging contest Sept. 19
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee is set to host the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Thursday, Sept. 19 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The annual competition offers 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to exhibit their livestock judging skills in both market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. OKFB WLC awards three scholarships to nursing students
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee has awarded three $500 scholarships to students from Farm Bureau member families who are pursuing a career in nursing. OKFB YF&R Shotgun Shoot raises more than $10,000 for OKFB Foundation for Agriculture
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers held their annual shotgun shoot fundraiser Friday, Aug. 9, at Silverleaf Shooting Sports in Guthrie. More than $10,000 was raised for the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture to continue to support Oklahoma agriculture and promote agriculture throughout the state. More than 47 of teams with a total of 188 shooters participated in the sporting-clay-style tournament across 12 stations that tested their skills with real-world hunting scenarios. OKFB kicked off its first Cultivating Healthy Minds session of 2024 with American Farm Bureau’s Jessica Cabrera on Friday, Aug. 2. The first session centered on promoting farmer wellness. During the session, Cabrera shared with Farm Bureau members several resources from AFBF’s Farm State of Mind campaign. The American Farm Bureau Farm State of Mind campaign breaks the stigma about mental health and mental wellbeing making it a topic of importance in the agricultural community.
