Agricultural businesses are now eligible to apply for low-interest, long-term loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan and EIDL Advance programs. SBA’s EIDL portal will reopen today as a result of funding authorized by Congress through the Paycheck Protection Program and Healthcare Enhancement Act. John Pfeiffer, Logan County Farm Bureau president and owner of Pfeiffer Angus Farms near Mulhall, Oklahoma, explained some of the challenges facing beef producers in a recent News9 story. Census response rates: How is rural Oklahoma doing?
In mid-March, the U.S. Census Bureau began its decennial count of the country’s population with the 2020 Census. Oklahoma historically has been undercounted in previous census counts, especially in rural areas. As of April 22, 46.7% of Oklahoma households have responded to the 2020 Census compared to the national rate of 51.8%.
