The Oklahoma Farm Bureau communications and public relations department was presented with three American Farm Bureau 2024 Communications Awards during the 2024 AFBF Communications Conference in Waco, TX, May 15. The awards were earned for outstanding communications work supporting agriculture and Farm Bureau’s grassroots advocacy efforts. More than 60 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members learned about the spicy, savory and sweet Louisiana agriculture industry during the 2024 OKFB Ag Tour May 6-9 to Vermilion Parish, Louisiana. The tour featured two days of stops and visits to farms, agribusinesses and cultural destinations in southwest Louisiana near Lafayette. Members arrived on Monday, May 6, with a welcome dinner and meeting with Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau members and leaders at the parish Farm Bureau office. Comanche County member selected to serve on FCC precision ag task force
Comanche County Farm Bureau member Cody Goodknight has been appointed to serve on the Federal Communication Commission’s Precision Ag Connectivity Task Force Working Group on mapping and analyzing connectivity on agricultural lands. Goodknight, who farms and ranches in the Chattanooga area with his wife, Kara, is one of eight members of the working group and serves alongside telecommunications representatives, U.S. government employees and land-grant university leaders. OKFB to host 2024 FFA Communications Conference July 23
Registration is now open for Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s fourth-annual FFA Communications Conference on Tuesday, July 23, in Edmond. The Elevate Communications Conference will equip students with knowledge of basic communications techniques and concepts in areas including writing, photography, social media and more, all taught by leading Oklahoma communications professionals. The conference will be held in Edmond at the Hilton Garden Inn. OKFB YF&R 2024 Shotgun Shoot Fundraiser registration now open
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers will host their annual Shotgun Shoot Fundraiser Friday, August 9, at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports near Guthrie. The fundraiser features a sporting-clays-style shoot with proceeds benefitting the work of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. Statement: OKFB applauds Stitt’s veto of water metering bill
Gov. Kevin Stitt today vetoed HB 3194, which would have required the installation of metering devices on all permitted groundwater wells in the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma Farm Bureau asked the governor to veto the bill after it unexpectedly passed the Senate and was sent to the governor in the middle of stakeholder negotiations. Oklahoma Farm Bureau women from around the state joined together for a weekend of fellowship, service and learning during the 2024 OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee’s annual statewide conference at the Embassy Suites Downtown Medical Center in Oklahoma City April 19-20. More than $110,000 collected for wildfire relief in aftermath of springtime Oklahoma fires
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture collected more than $110,000 in donations and matching funds to help spur recovery efforts in the aftermath of springtime wildfires in the state. Donations were collected from late February through March 15. The foundation, Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance each offered $10,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds. In total, more than $80,000 in relief donations were received, and the full $30,000 in matching dollars were contributed to the foundation’s fire relief fund, resulting in a total of more than $110,000 available for fire relief efforts to aid in recovery.
