The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers will host their annual Shotgun Shoot Fundraiser Friday, August 9, at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports near Guthrie. The fundraiser features a sporting-clays-style shoot with proceeds benefitting the work of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. Registration is now open through Friday, August 2, on the OKFB website for sponsors, teams and individuals who will compete in one of three divisions for youth shooters, collegiate shooters and an open division. Statement: OKFB applauds Stitt’s veto of water metering bill
Gov. Kevin Stitt today vetoed HB 3194, which would have required the installation of metering devices on all permitted groundwater wells in the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma Farm Bureau asked the governor to veto the bill after it unexpectedly passed the Senate and was sent to the governor in the middle of stakeholder negotiations. OKFB WLC holds annual conference for Farm Bureau women in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma Farm Bureau women from around the state joined together for a weekend of fellowship, service and learning during the 2024 OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee’s annual statewide conference at the Embassy Suites Downtown Medical Center in Oklahoma City April 19-20. The conference featured breakout sessions, community service projects, a silent auction fundraiser and networking opportunities for the more than 100 Farm Bureau members who attended. Oklahoma Farm Bureau has named six rural Oklahoma businesses to the 2024 Activate Oklahoma cohort, part of the organization’s Oklahoma Grassroots Rural and Ag Business Accelerators program. More than $110,000 collected for wildfire relief in aftermath of springtime Oklahoma fires
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture collected more than $110,000 in donations and matching funds to help spur recovery efforts in the aftermath of springtime wildfires in the state. Donations were collected from late February through March 15. The foundation, Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance each offered $10,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds. In total, more than $80,000 in relief donations were received, and the full $30,000 in matching dollars were contributed to the foundation’s fire relief fund, resulting in a total of more than $110,000 available for fire relief efforts to aid in recovery. Oklahoma Farm Bureau teamed up with county Farm Bureaus to donate a total of $12,400 to food pantries and food assistance programs across the state through the 2024 Farm Bureau Cares: Community Food Donation Matching Program. This year, more than 30 county Farm Bureaus and county Women’s Leadership Committees made donations to nutrition assistance programs in their communities, including local community food banks, church meal programs, organizations helping victims of domestic violence and more. OKFB Foundation for Ag Watermelon Challenge sign-ups open through April 19
Second-grade teachers can now enroll their classrooms in a watermelon-growing contest through the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s fourth-annual Watermelon Challenge. During the challenge, students will grow their very own watermelon from seeds provided by the foundation for a chance to win prizes. The challenge illustrates the hard work and effort Oklahoma farmers and ranchers undertake when growing and raising food. OWRB to host third round of stakeholder input meetings in April and May
The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is set to host the third round of stakeholder input meetings in April and May. As the largest user of water in Oklahoma, it is crucial for agriculture to have a voice in these meetings. The stakeholder meetings will center on the impending updates to Oklahoma’s Comprehensive Water Plan with discussions on water policy, future water supply and demand, water challenges and more.
