The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee raised $8,000 to benefit the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture at their 2019 shotgun shoot at Quail Ridge Shooting Sports near McLoud on Saturday, Sept. 21. A total of 18 teams from around the state competed in the shoot, which featured 13 sporting clays stations. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers was proud to host more than 1,300 4-H and FFA members at its annual Oklahoma State Fair livestock judging contest Thursday, Sept. 12 in Oklahoma City. 4-H and FFA members from across the state traveled to the Oklahoma State Fair where they judged seven classes of sheep, cattle, goats and swine with three classes of questions. Custer County breaks ground on new Weatherford office
Custer County Farm Bureau officially broke ground on a new office building in Weatherford on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The new office, expected to be completed sometime toward the end of next year, will be located at 1402 N. Washington across from Weatherford High School. It will replace the current office located at 510 E. Main. Farm Bureau members kick off policy development season
Over the last few weeks, Oklahoma Farm Bureau members gathered within their districts for the organization’s annual August Area Meetings across the state. Signifying the beginning of the OKFB grassroots policy development process, members were able to share issues they are facing within their local communities and ask questions about OKFB policy on a variety of topics. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will host its annual discussion meet at the organization’s annual convention Nov. 8, 2019 in downtown Oklahoma City. The discussion meet is designed to replicate a committee meeting in which all participants are expected to discuss and actively contribute. Participants are evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic in three rounds of debate-style discussion. Participants are judged on their ability to offer constructive criticism, cooperation and communication while analyzing agricultural problems and developing solutions. Each year, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers recognize members for their achievements through several awards presented at the OKFB Annual Meeting to be held Nov. 8-10, 2019 in downtown Oklahoma City. Inaugural YF&R Shotgun Shoot to be held Sept. 21
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will host its first YF&R Shotgun Shoot on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Quail Ridge in McLoud, Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, which focuses on educating Oklahomans about the important role agriculture plays in our everyday lives. Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m. with shooting beginning at 9 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served to all participants.
