Paden Day, a Mulhall-Orlando High School senior, has been awarded a $1,000 college scholarship from the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee. The scholarship is presented to high school seniors pursuing a degree in agriculture at an accredited Oklahoma institute of higher learning. After graduating in May, Day plans to study agriculture at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Oklahoma Farm Bureau members are invited to encourage the U.S. Trade Representative to negotiate a better deal on behalf of America’s farmers and ranchers during a public comment period on trade dispute with China. American farmers and ranchers are already facing low commodity prices and the uncertainty of a ‘trade war’ drives prices even lower hurting farmers and ranchers and rural communities. Commodity prices will fall as both sides ratchet the trade dispute upward. Raspotnik-Jones joins OKFB field services
Oklahoma Farm Bureau has hired Penny Raspotnik-Jones as its southeastern field representative. In her position, Raspotnik-Jones will work as a liaison between county Farm Bureaus and the state Farm Bureau. She will serve members in Atoka, Bryan, Coal, Choctaw, Haskell, Hughes, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, McIntosh, Pittsburg and Pushmataha Counties. Keith Kisling of Burlington and Jimmy Kinder of Walters will be honored with Governor’s Excellence in Agriculture Awards April 10, as announced today by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. The awards will be presented during a special ceremony hosted by ODAFF and sponsored by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives April 10 at 2 p.m. in the state Capitol. OKFB names Doye executive director
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau board of directors Wednesday announced Thad Doye has been se|ected to serve as the farm organization’s new executive director. OKFB sponsors ag youth at 2018 OYE Sale of Champions
Oklahoma Farm Bureau helped support the state’s agriculture youth by purchasing more than $43,000 in premiums at the 2018 Oklahoma Youth Expo Sale of Champions held Friday, March 16 in Oklahoma City. Before the sale, OKFB was honored as the 2017 volume buyer for purchasing the most premiums at the 2017 sale.
