OKFB to host informational ELD meeting Feb. 26 in Okmulgee County
Farmers, ranchers and agribusinessmen are invited to attend an educational meeting on the electronic logging device and hours of service mandate held Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds. Hosted by Okmulgee County Farm Bureau, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Okmulgee County Fair Board and Okmulgee County Extension, the meeting will cover the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s electronic logging device mandate and hours of service requirements for agriculture. OKFB leaders to gather March 5-6 in Oklahoma City
County Farm Bureau leaders from across the state are invited to attend the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Leadership Conference held March 5 and 6 in Oklahoma City. Held annually, the conference is an opportunity for county leaders to discuss current issues affecting agriculture and rural Oklahoma, learn more about their role as county board members, and interact with state lawmakers and elected officials. As the 2018 legislative session begins next week, property taxes and rural healthcare are among the leading issues for Oklahoma Farm Bureau as it represents its members at the state Capitol. OKFB YF&R to award $1,000 scholarships
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is now accepting applications for its annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student. Trump promotes rural development initiative in speech to Farm Bureau members
President Donald Trump unveiled a major initiative Monday designed to strengthen a rural economy that has lagged urban areas in recovery from the Great Recession of 2007-2008. Trump signed two executive orders that fund and streamline the expansion of rural broadband access after an address to 7,400 farmers and ranchers gathered at American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2018 Annual Convention.
