Ten Oklahoma lawmakers were recently honored with the 2023 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Champion award at the organization’s annual leadership conference on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Oklahoma City. The OKFB Champion award is presented to state lawmakers who serve as exemplary advocates for Oklahoma agriculture, going above and beyond for the state’s farmers and ranchers during the 2023 legislative session. OKFB members set 2024 priority issues ahead of legislative session
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members have set the organization’s legislative priorities ahead of Oklahoma’s 2024 legislative session. These priority issues, designed to guide the work of Farm Bureau members and staff at the state Capitol, are broken down into four primary focus areas, including rural infrastructure, Oklahoma’s future, agricultural production and taxation. YF&R scholarship applications now available
Applications are now available for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers high school and collegiate scholarships. The high school scholarship awards nine $1,000 scholarships – one per OKFB district – to graduating high school seniors from Farm Bureau families planning to study agriculture at an accredited Oklahoma college, university or technical school. The collegiate scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to an Oklahoma Collegiate Farm Bureau member. Applications must be postmarked by April 1. OKFB wins AFBF New Horizon Award, state awards of excellence
Oklahoma Farm Bureau was awarded the American Farm Bureau New Horizon Award Sunday, January 21, at the 2024 AFBF Convention in Salt Lake City for OKFB’s Capitol Camp youth legislative experience. The OKFB Capitol Camp is a two-day immersive mock legislative experience started in 2022 for 4-H and FFA members who are high school juniors and seniors to help them understand Oklahoma’s legislative branch and the lawmaking process. OKFB’s 2024 Leadership Conference set for Feb. 13
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members are encouraged to attend the organization’s 2024 Leadership Conference Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Embassy Suites Downtown Medical Center in Oklahoma City. OKFB members gear up for AFBF resolutions session in Salt Lake City
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members will make the trek to Salt Lake City, Utah, later this week to attend the 2024 American Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Jan. 19-24. Five voting delegates elected by members at OKFB’s annual meeting in November 2023 will represent Oklahoma at the business session Tuesday, Jan. 23, where dozens of grassroots national policy resolutions will be presented for consideration. Lucas honored with AFBF Distinguished Service Award
Rep. Frank Lucas of Oklahoma is the recipient of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2024 Distinguished Service Award. Lucas will be recognized during the upcoming 2024 American Farm Bureau Convention, Jan. 19-24, held in Salt Lake City, Utah. The award is among the highest honors presented by AFBF. Lucas is a fifth-generation Oklahoman and farmer who has been a defender of agriculture for more than 40 years. With a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University, he successfully brought the perspective of the American farmer with him to Capitol Hill. Pfeiffer appointed to Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board
Logan County Farm Bureau member Gaye Pfeiffer has been appointed to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board. Pfeiffer’s appointment was announced January 2 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She was one of 26 members appointed to serve on the board. Twenty-five members will serve three-year terms and one member will serve a one-year term. The term of board members appointed to three-year terms start February 2024 and end February 2027.
