Young farmers and ranchers from across the state are invited to attend Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 2005 Young Farmers & Ranchers Summer Conference July 22-24 at the Best Value Inn in Alva.
State YF&R Committee members in northwest Oklahoma have been hard at work putting together an agenda full of fun, informational activities for young farmers and ranchers and their families.
This year’s conference will kick off Friday, July 22 at a winery near Cleo Springs, followed by a tour of the Sod House. From there, the group will head to the Heritage Manor Bed and Breakfast for dinner.
On Saturday, July 23, YF&R will visit Ted Turner’s Buffalo Ranch and the Kiowa Locker Plant. The day’s activities also include speakers, who will update the group on canola and no-till farming, and a dinner and entertainment at the NWOSU Farm Saturday evening.
The conference will wrap up Sunday, July 24 with a devotional and political update.
If you’d like to visit the Alabaster Caverns, the Little Sahara State Park, or the Salt Plains crystal digging area, plan to come a day early or stay a day late! For more information on these activities, call state YF&R Vice Chair Danielle Budy at (580) 435-2427.
Call the Best Value Inn at (580) 327-1111 for reservations. The deadline for reservations is July 8. The room rate is $79. Don’t forget to mention that you are with the Farm Bureau group.
Those interested in attending the conference may contact FBW/YF&R Coordinator Marcia Irvin at 405-523-2405 to register.
